29.154

論「若緣色起至如聲處等故」，破緣色起也。若緣色起，即不了我，如不了聲。聲非是色，了色不了聲；我非是色，了色不了我。

The treatise says: "If it arises with visible form as object-condition... because it is like the sense-field of sound and the rest." This refutes [the view that] it arises taking visible form as its object-condition. If it arises taking visible form as its object-condition, then it does not cognize the self, just as it does not cognize sound. Sound is not visible form; cognizing visible form does not cognize sound. The self is not visible form; cognizing visible form does not cognize the self.
