論「除女男者至身醜陋故」，此釋色界無男、女根所以。一以離婬欲法故。若爾，因何有其鼻、舌？為釋伏難故言醜陋，不同鼻舌有嚴身用。

The commentary states: "Those who exclude the female and male [...] because the body would be ugly." This explains the reason why the form realm lacks the male and female faculties. First, it is because of detachment from sexual desire. If so, why are there the nose and tongue? To resolve this implicit objection, it says that [the sexual organs] are ugly, unlike the nose and tongue, which serve to adorn the body.
