6.41

論「有餘師不誦及彼相應法」，述餘師誦異也。若除「及彼相應法」五字，即是唯除有身見上四相，相應法上四相非能生有身見故不除也，由此唯十四法與心為因。

On the Śāstra's stating, "Other masters do not recite 'and its associated phenomena'": This relates the textual difference recited by other masters. If one deletes the five characters "and its associated phenomena," it means that only the four characteristics upon the view of self-existence are excluded, and because the four characteristics upon associated phenomena cannot produce the view of self-existence they are not excluded; on this account, only fourteen phenomena act as causes for the mind.
