On the Śāstra's statement: "The treatise says ... because it has activity": this explains two causes within the cause-condition. Because the coexistent and associated causes can give fruits to present dharmas, present dharmas are called "at the time of cessation". When it says "because it causes co-arising dharmas to have activity", it means causing co-arising fruits to be able to grasp and give fruits. Although it is said that all causes are at the time of giving fruits, these two causes can implicitly encompass both [grasping and giving]. Investigating its reasoning, abiding and cessation are simultaneous, because grasping a fruit at the time of abiding is called "present". If abiding were at a different time, then cessation would not be grasping the fruit, and it should not be present.
