論「以質與像至故不成喻」，釋第一也。像、質同時俱有，非是前後相續。死、生二有異時前後，非是同時俱有。非等故非喻也。

On the passage in the śāstra from "Because the original object and the reflection" to "therefore it does not constitute a valid analogy": This explains the first point. The reflection and the original object coexist at the same time; they are not a temporal succession of before and after. The two existences of death and birth occur at different times, before and after; they do not coexist simultaneously. Being non-equivalent, it is not an analogy.
