On the text of the Treatise, "Furthermore, for these generic similarities... how can non-different awareness and verbal designation arise?": This is the fifth objection. The Nyāyānusāra explains: "How can non-different awareness and verbal designation arise with respect to them without any further generic similarity? Because all generic similarities possess the nature of being equal causes (sabhāga-hetu) for entities of the same class, they serve precisely as the causes for the awareness and verbal designation of mutual similarity within that class. Just as the eyes, ears, and so forth become material natures (rūpatva) only by being made of the primary elements (mahābhūta), whereas the primary elements—though not made of other primary elements—nevertheless accomplish the nature of matter."
