The commentary states: "How could they at the present time... give rise to attachment to precepts and vows?" This other master's explanation entails errors whether advancing or retreating. In the Brahmakāyika heaven, if one has not yet abandoned the defilements of the first dhyāna and has not attained the second dhyāna, then one cannot remember the affairs of the second dhyāna. If one had already abandoned the defilements of the first dhyāna and attained the second dhyāna, it would not be fitting to take Brahmā of the first dhyāna as an object and give rise to attachment to precepts and vows.
