表唯有伺二者，欲界初禪名有伺二，表色唯在有伺地中，要有尋伺方能發表。二禪已上無尋伺故，故無表業。

"Vijñapti is only in the two with investigation": the desire realm and the first dhyāna are called the two with investigation. Vijñapti-rūpa exists only in the levels with investigation, for there must be coarse examination (vitarka) and subtle investigation (vicāra) to give expression to vijñapti. From the second dhyāna upward there is neither coarse examination nor subtle investigation, hence there is no vijñapti karma.
