釋曰：初一行頌明二等起，第二一行頌約六識明差別，後一行頌約三性辨同異。等起有二種者，標也，表、無表色等起有二種也。

Explanation: The first line of verse clarifies the two motivations; the second line of verse clarifies the distinctions in terms of the six consciousnesses; the final line of verse distinguishes identity and difference in terms of the three natures. "Motivation is twofold" introduces the topic: the motivation of manifest and unmanifest form is twofold.
