14.47

聖初除過去者，謂聖所住無漏律儀，於初剎那苦法忍位必成未來，不成過去。此類聖道先未起故，過去既無，故不說成就。若第二念恒成過未，與定戒同也。

'For the noble's first [moment], the past is excluded': this means that regarding the uncontaminated restraint wherein a noble one abides, in the initial moment at the stage of the acceptance of the dharma of suffering (duḥkhe dharmajñānakṣānti), one must possess the future, but does not possess the past. Because this kind of noble path has never arisen before, and the past therefore does not exist, one is not said to possess it. In the second moment and onward, one always possesses the past and future, identical to dhyāna precepts.
