17.23

釋曰：不善地獄中，麁雜瞋通二者，十不善業於地獄中，唯麁惡語、雜穢語、瞋，此三通二，謂成就、現行二種也。由相罵故，有麁惡語。由悲呌故，有雜穢語。由互相憎，故有瞋恚。

Explanation: 'Unwholesome in the hells: / Harsh [speech], frivolous [talk], and hostility encompass both' means that of the ten unwholesome karmas in the hells, only harsh speech, frivolous talk, and hostility—these three—encompass both, namely both possession (prāpti) and present manifestation. Due to reviling one another, there is harsh speech. Due to lamentation and crying out, there is frivolous talk. Due to mutual resentment, there is hostility.
