21.54

邪見憂及喜者，謂邪見以歡、慼行轉，唯意地故，與憂、喜相應。先造罪業，後起邪見，喜受相應，不懼報故；先造善業，後起邪見，憂受相應，福唐捐故。

As for 'wrong view with mental pain and joy', this means that wrong view operates with both cheerful and distressed dispositions, and because it exists only in the mental sphere, it is associated with mental pain and joy. Having previously committed sinful karma and later giving rise to wrong view, it is associated with the feeling of joy because one does not fear retribution; having previously committed wholesome karma and later giving rise to wrong view, it is associated with the feeling of mental pain because one's merit is rendered futile.
