"Different regions": like the eastern and western oceans, this is called distance of place; although within the same world, they are also called distant because their regions and places are separated. "Two periods of time": like the past and future periods of time, this is called distance of time; although these two periods of time are established with respect to a single dharma, they are also called distant because they are separated in time relative to the present period. The word "and so forth" is used to clarify that the examples cited are not exhaustive; as derived form and so forth are also called distant in characteristic, as good and bad natures are also called distant in antidote, and as the northern and southern oceans are also called distant in place; hence the word "and so forth" is provided.
