23.16

具觀四聖諦，修十六行相者，此明煗位也。此煗善根分位長故，能具觀四聖諦及能具修十六行相。觀苦聖諦，修四行相，非常、苦、空、非我。觀集聖諦，修四行相，因、集、生、緣。觀滅聖諦，修四行相，滅、靜、妙、離。觀道聖諦，修四行相，道、如、行、出。釋此相義，後當辨之。

As for "contemplates the four noble truths in full, / Cultivating the sixteen modes": this explains the stage of warmth. Because the stage of this root of goodness of warmth is lengthy, it can contemplate the four noble truths in full and can cultivate the sixteen modes in full. Contemplating the noble truth of suffering, one cultivates four modes: impermanent, suffering, empty, and non-self. Contemplating the noble truth of origin, one cultivates four modes: cause, origin, production, and condition. Contemplating the noble truth of cessation, one cultivates four modes: cessation, calm, excellence, and escape. Contemplating the noble truth of the path, one cultivates four modes: path, correct, practice, and deliverance. The explanation of the meaning of these modes will be analyzed later.
