雜修通無間，學七應八九者，此明雜修無間道，及修五通諸無間道也。有學雜修諸無間道，及修五通諸無間道未來修七，謂四諦智、法智、類智，及世俗智（釋學七也）。無學雜修諸無間道，及修五通諸無間道未來所修，鈍八、利九，八者除他心智及無生智，九者唯除他心（釋應八九也）。

[Regarding] "In the uninterrupted [paths] of mixed cultivation and supernormal knowledges, a śaikṣa [cultivates] seven, an arhat eight or nine": this explains the uninterrupted paths of mixed cultivation and the various uninterrupted paths of cultivating the five supernormal knowledges. In the various uninterrupted paths of mixed cultivation and the various uninterrupted paths of cultivating the five supernormal knowledges, a śaikṣa cultivates seven in the future, namely the knowledges of the four truths, dharma-knowledge, category-knowledge, and conventional knowledge (this explains "a śaikṣa [cultivates] seven"). That which is cultivated in the future in the various uninterrupted paths of mixed cultivation and the various uninterrupted paths of cultivating the five supernormal knowledges of an aśaikṣa is eight for the dull and nine for the sharp: the eight excludes knowledge of others' minds and knowledge of non-arising; the nine excludes only [knowledge of] others' minds (this explains "an arhat eight or nine").
