化生六七八者，化生初位得六、七、八根。言得六根者，眼、耳、鼻、舌、身、命，謂劫初時無形化生，故有六根。得七根者，如諸天等，六根如上，加男、女一。得八根者，謂惡趣中容有二形化生者是也，六根如上，加男、女二根。

'Apparitionally born, six, seven, or eight': at the initial moment of apparitional birth, one obtains six, seven, or eight faculties. 'Obtaining six faculties' refers to eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and life; this refers to sexless apparitional birth at the beginning of the eon, hence there are six faculties. 'Obtaining seven faculties' refers to heavenly beings and the like: with the six faculties as above, one [either male or female] is added. 'Obtaining eight faculties' refers to cases where there can be hermaphroditic apparitional birth in the wretched destinies: with the six faculties as above, both the male and female faculties are added.
