若成女、男、憂、信等，各成八者，謂成女根必成就八，七根如苦，更加女根。男根亦八，七根如苦，更加男根。憂根亦八，七根如苦，更加憂根。若成信等，各成八者，謂命、意、捨、信等五根。

"If possessing female, male, grief, or faith and the rest, each possesses eight" means that possessing the female faculty definitely possesses eight: the seven faculties as for suffering, plus the female faculty. The male faculty also possesses eight: the seven faculties as for suffering, plus the male faculty. The grief faculty also possesses eight: the seven faculties as for suffering, plus the grief faculty. If possessing faith and the rest, each possesses eight: life, mind, equanimity, and the five faculties of faith and the rest.
