基作三解：一解，初句顯第八現識與有漏種為所依止故名所隨，隨成有漏等故；後句顯與無漏種子為所依附所隨依止性，雖復依止義同，無漏不等故名依附。

Ji gave three explanations. In one explanation, the first phrase reveals that the eighth manifest consciousness serves as the support for defiled seeds, hence it is named that which is conformed to, because it conforms to becoming defiled, and so forth; the latter phrase reveals that it serves as that which is conformed to by nature as support for taintless seeds: although the meaning of being a support is the same, because the taintless is not equal, it is named dependent.
