狂有五緣，俱舍第十五云：依不平等大種故，心便失念，故知以妄念為體，或俱時心心所為性，此唯欲界除北洲五趣皆有，北洲人無逼惱，諸天有故，小乘佛有，大乘不然，十地亦無。

Madness has five conditions. The fifteenth fascicle of the Abhidharmakośa states: Relying on the disharmony of the great elements, the mind then loses mindfulness; hence we know it takes false mindfulness as its essence, or takes the concurrent mind and mental factors as its nature. This exists only in the desire realm, in all five destinies except the northern continent; people in the northern continent have no torment, while the devas have it. In the Hīnayāna, the Buddha has it; in the Mahāyāna, it is not so, and it is also absent on the ten stages.
