Regarding the eighth text: The explanation says that unfitness (dauṣṭhulya) has three meanings: 1. the meaning of damage and affliction, which applies only to defiled dharmas; 2. the meaning of unsuitability/incapacity, which also extends to indeterminate [dharmas]; 3. the meaning of having taints by nature, which extends to wholesome dharmas with taints. The seeds of wholesome dharmas lack the first two meanings, hence they are not called unfitness. However, the Viniścaya says there is an unfitness of inherent karma, and the Abhidharma also calls it the unfitness of having taints; based on the third meaning, it is also called unfitness. Therefore, all bodily bases of reliance—that is, the body of the five aggregates of maturation—being adhered to by defilements, are called "followed by unfitness"; when arisen from indeterminate seeds, they are called "produced by unfitness"; and in substance, being non-obscured indeterminate maturation, they are called "unfitness by intrinsic nature."
