Regarding the "seven stations of consciousness", as explained in the *Abhidharmakośa*: first, sentient beings with form having diverse bodies and diverse perceptions, such as humans, desire-realm devas, and the first dhyāna except at the beginning of the kalpa; second, diverse bodies and unified perception, such as the devas of the Brahmā assembly at the beginning of the kalpa; third, unified bodies and diverse perceptions, such as the second dhyāna wearying of the fundamental joy to enter the preliminary equanimity, and wearying of the preliminary equanimity to enter the fundamental joy; fourth, unified bodies and unified perception, such as the third dhyāna. In the first dhyāna, it is called unified perception due to defiled perception; in the second dhyāna, diverse perceptions due to two wholesome perceptions; in the third dhyāna, unified perception due to fruition perception; the remaining three are the lower three formless realms. Other places disrupt consciousness, so they are not called stations of consciousness.
