第三、明宗要者，釋論下云：又十七地，具攝一切文義，略盡後之四分，皆為解釋十七地中諸要文義，故所不離瑜伽師地。由是此論，用十七地，以為宗要。

Third, as for explaining its doctrinal essence, the Commentary states below: 'Moreover, the seventeen stages completely subsume all texts and meanings in brief. The subsequent four divisions are all to explain the various essential texts and meanings within the seventeen stages, and therefore do not depart from the stages of yoga practitioners.' Hence, this śāstra takes the seventeen stages as its doctrinal essence.
