In the thirteenth, not giving things that do not conform to propriety, there is a statement, an explanation, and a conclusion. Regarding the words 'furthermore, without informing... up to, the bodhisattva does not do it': Ji says: 'For example, if someone previously did not eat onions, and without letting the other person know, as is the rule for giving, one intends to share them with him—a bodhisattva does not do this, up to extensive explanations. Not only are onions not given to him, but also through tasks that do not suit the vessel or do not conform to ritual propriety, one does not give to him. This is the meaning here. Furthermore, giving by throwing or casting [the gift], or not doing so intentionally toward him—a bodhisattva does not do this. Giving without proper deportment—a bodhisattva does not do this.' Ji says: 'Regarding the words "or again disposing," and so forth: it means disposing of someone so as to make them commit improper deeds and only then giving, such as having them kill and only then giving to them.'
