就前方便中有三：所明受人，遠方便，謂先發願；次、請師求戒；後偏袒下，念佛菩薩功德運心供養。

Regarding the preliminary expedients, there are three: the candidate who is explained; the remote expedient, namely first making the vow; next, requesting a master and seeking the precepts; and finally, from 'baring the right shoulder' onward, mindfully recollecting the virtues of the Buddhas and bodhisattvas and directing the mind to make offerings.
