又如戒品說：所化有情有四差別，於無德善人隨順心轉，即當此中讚勵怯弱有情；二、於有德善人讚揚實德，當此慶慰勤修正行有情。三、於有過軟性有情調伏驅擯，當此教導放逸有情；四、於有過剛強惡人神力制伏，當此示現愚癡有情也。

Furthermore, as the Śīla chapter states: There are four distinctions among sentient beings to be transformed. Adapting one's mind to follow virtuous persons without merit corresponds here to encouraging timid sentient beings. Second, praising real virtue in virtuous persons endowed with merit corresponds here to congratulating and consoling sentient beings who diligently practice correct conduct. Third, taming and banishing transgressing sentient beings of gentle nature corresponds here to guiding negligent sentient beings. Fourth, subduing transgressing, obstinate, and wicked persons by supernormal power corresponds here to demonstrating to foolish sentient beings.
