愛語自性，謂如前說等者，前說慰喻慶悅是隨世軌儀語，勝無益語是順正法教語，則是難行三愛語也。九門愛語廣說，如前攝事品。

Regarding the intrinsic nature of affectionate speech, where it says "as previously explained," and so forth: the previously explained consolation and rejoicing are speech conforming to worldly decorum, and surpassing useless speech is speech conforming to the true teaching; these are the three kinds of affectionate speech that are difficult to practice. The nine categories of affectionate speech are explained extensively, as in the previous Chapter on the Means of Assimilation.
