第二明何所緣慮，謂則四圓滿。初句自利因；第二、利他因，第三、自利果；第四、利他果。地論云：為何義故生如是心。經云：為得佛智故等有十句，初一是總句，餘九是別，此中因果義令十句。

Second, in explaining what is taken as the cognitive object, it refers to the four fulfillments: the first phrase is the cause of self-benefit; the second, the cause of benefiting others; the third, the fruition of self-benefit; the fourth, the fruition of benefiting others. The Daśabhūmika-śāstra states: 'For what purpose is such a mind generated?' The sūtra states: 'For the sake of attaining the Buddha's wisdom,' and so forth, having ten phrases, where the first is general and the remaining nine are specific; here, the meaning of causes and fruitions forms the ten phrases.
