第四、明勝利他，經有九句文明八種過，過凡夫地量，第一是總句，下八句是別。此中云：證入菩薩正性離生者，是第一入位過。生如來家者，是第二家過。成佛胸子者，是第三種姓過，如外道說波羅門種從彼梵王心胸而生，今說菩薩從佛胸生。決定趣向正等菩提等者，當彼第八畢定過，略不辨彼中第四道過、第五法體過、第六家過、第七業過。

Fourth, in explaining the superior benefit for others, the sūtra has nine phrases of text explaining eight kinds of surpassing—surpassing the measure of the ordinary person's stage. The first is a general phrase, and the eight phrases below are specific. Here, 'realizing and entering the bodhisattva's certainty and transcendence of arising' is the first: surpassing into the rank. 'Born into the family of the Tathāgata' is the second: surpassing into the family. 'Becoming an [intimate] son from the Buddha's breast' is the third: surpassing in gotra—just as non-Buddhists say that the brāhmaṇa caste is born from the heart and breast of Brahmā, it is now said that the bodhisattva is born from the Buddha's breast. 'Determinately proceeding toward complete and perfect enlightenment', and so forth, corresponds to the eighth: surpassing in definiteness. It omits distinguishing the fourth (surpassing in the path), the fifth (surpassing in the essential dharma), the sixth (surpassing in family), and the seventh (surpassing in karma).
