"And its predominant... up to establishing" is the fifth [clause], clarifying the attainment of great mindfulness and knowledge, and the establishment through etymological explanations. The Daśabhūmivyākhyāna calls this the division explaining the name of the stage. There are three explanations of the name: (1) attaining great power of mindfulness, one is able to receive the clouds and rain of the buddhas' expounding of the Dharma, hence it is called Dharma Cloud; (2) the dharma body universally covers, and furthermore showers the dharma rain to extinguish the dust of afflictions, hence it is called Dharma Cloud; (3) showering the dharma rain, it causes the good sprouts of living beings to grow, hence it is called Dharma Cloud. Now, stating here "and this predominant great mindfulness and great knowledge" is the first explanation of the name; "predominantly giving rise to establishment through etymological explanations" refers to the latter two explanations of the name. However, this explanation of the name will be explained below; here it is first briefly indicated to complete the sequence of divisions.
