基云：此中若熏種同時，生滅家取此文為正，若異時家於此文云：此謂現行能熏之識與第八識同生、同滅熏習第八，非現行與種同時生滅。

Kuiji says: Here, if perfuming and seeds are simultaneous, those masters holding simultaneous arising and cessation take this text as standard; whereas those holding different times say regarding this text: this means that the actual functioning consciousness that can perfume arises and ceases together with the eighth consciousness, perfuming the eighth, but not that actual functioning and seeds simultaneously arise and cease.
