As for when it is severed at the third fruition, and whether it is suppressed or not suppressed by the worldly path, this is as explained in Master Juan’s Essay on Manas. This manas is also superior to the previous passage on the simultaneous operation of the various consciousnesses; what was not fully understood there is also redetermined here. Previously it followed the principle: if associated with mindless and mindful states, it did not resolve the stages of concentration and non-concentration, because they do not contradict wholesome and unwholesome states; now, stating ‘redetermined’ means resolving the previous passage on the six consciousnesses cognizing self and other; therefore the treatise says ‘it was also explained before.’
