如色受等者，此通外難。難云：如色受等性非煩惱而生貪等令識樂住，識非煩惱何故不生貪等令識樂住，為通此難故，云色等四蘊一一獨生，煩惱強故立為識住，識則不能獨為煩惱因緣如色受等。

Regarding "like form, feeling, and so on": this resolves an outside objection. The objection says: "Like form, feeling, and so on, whose nature is not an affliction yet gives rise to covetousness and so on, causing consciousness to delight in abiding—consciousness is not an affliction, so why does it not give rise to covetousness and so on, causing consciousness to delight in abiding?" To resolve this objection, it says: each of the four aggregates—form and the rest—arises individually, and because their afflictions are strong, they are established as stations of consciousness; consciousness, however, cannot solely act as the cause and condition for afflictions like form, feeling, and so on.
