下明觀苦，如毒熱癰等者，尋伺地說如毒熱癰以熱灰塗更加其苦名苦苦觀，如毒熱癰以冷藥塗少生微樂名壞苦觀，如毒熱癰自性是行苦觀。

Below, it explains the contemplation of suffering. Regarding "like a poisonous, burning carbuncle, etc.": the Stage with Investigation and Reflection states that like a poisonous, burning carbuncle smeared with hot ashes, having its pain further increased, is called the contemplation of the suffering of suffering; like a poisonous, burning carbuncle smeared with cold medicine, giving rise slightly to faint pleasure, is called the contemplation of the suffering of change; and like a poisonous, burning carbuncle whose intrinsic nature is conditioned phenomena, is called the contemplation of the suffering of conditioning.
