若色根增上所生者，為受用色等五塵故五根生，五根生已增上勢力引生色等。若彼於此為增上者，彼業種子於所生色等為增上。又解，五塵以五根為增上緣方得生起，彼攝於此五根為增上緣。

“If it is born of the physical faculties as sovereign…”: for the sake of experiencing the five sense objects of form and the like, the five faculties are born; once the five faculties are born, their sovereign power induces and produces form and the like. “If that is sovereign over this”: that karma seed is sovereign over the generated form and the like. Another explanation: The five sense objects only arise taking the five faculties as sovereign conditions (adhipati-pratyaya); that [phrase] encompasses these five faculties as sovereign conditions.
