對法云:眼等五全四一分,謂不離根色香味觸。此中云五、通受非受者,以聲起時不離根故說為執受。對法即據聲不恒有,故不說受。
The Abhidharma[-samuccaya] states: 'All five, beginning with the eye, and a portion of four [are appropriated]'—meaning matter, odors, tastes, and tangible objects that are not separated from the faculties. Here it is said that the five are both appropriated and not appropriated, because when sound arises, it is not separated from the faculties, and thus it is spoken of as appropriated. The Abhidharma[-samuccaya], relying on the fact that sound is not constantly present, does not call it appropriated.
