第五三品分別，不定地善根為下，世間定善為中，無漏為上。就無漏善中，初斷上惑名下，次斷中惑名中，後下惑名上。今時合說，故言下品者，諸不定地所有善根或在定地無漏善根斷上煩惱。

Fifth, differentiation into the three grades: the wholesome roots of unstabilized stages are inferior; the mundane wholesome [factors] of stabilization are middling; the taintless are superior. Within the taintless wholesome [factors], first abandoning the higher defilements is called inferior; next abandoning the middling defilements is called middling; later [abandoning] the inferior defilements is called superior. Now they are stated combined, so 'inferior grade' means all wholesome roots belonging to unstabilized stages, or taintless wholesome roots in stabilized stages that abandon the higher afflictions.
