二、約四諦辨。景云：九根苦諦依者，即九根生死，依七色意與命。五受根為集諦依者，以受增煩惱故。一切根為滅諦依者，二十二中，若是染者，是所斷故為滅所依。若是淨者，是能治故為滅所依。後八為道諦依，可解。

Second, distinguishing them in terms of the four truths. Jing says: "Nine faculties are the bases for the truth of suffering: namely, the birth-and-death of the nine faculties, based on the seven physical, the mental, and the life faculties. The five feeling faculties are the bases for the truth of the cause of suffering, because feelings increase afflictions. All faculties are the bases for the truth of cessation: among the twenty-two, if they are defiled, because they are to be severed, they serve as the bases for cessation; if they are purified, because they are the antidotes, they serve as the bases for cessation. That the final eight are the bases for the truth of the path is readily understood."
