次問答辨十八麁重，前六麁重。西方三說。第一、護法云：前三約法爾種，後三約新熏種。第二、護月云：前三約種後三約現。第三、勝軍云：前三無始已來熏成，後三現種。

Next, a question and answer distinguishes the eighteen kinds of unfitness. Regarding the first six kinds of unfitness, there are three explanations in the West [India]. First, Dharmapāla says: the first three are explained in terms of naturally existent seeds, and the latter three in terms of newly perfumed seeds. Second, Candramati says: the first three are explained in terms of seeds, and the latter three in terms of active manifestations. Third, Jayasena says: the first three have been perfumed and formed since beginningless time, while the latter three are present seeds.
