18.15

泰、基等云：謂佛以別相念，即十力四無畏等一切功德相念佛寶也。以餘滅盡離欲無為涅槃等相念法寶也。以無諍等功德相念僧寶也。餘者即三寶互相望為餘，謂法僧外餘相為佛寶也。如是差別義念佛等名。餘謂是世尊等者，此出佛寶等餘相也。

Tai, Ji, and others say: This means recollecting the Buddha through specific aspects—that is, recollecting the Buddha Jewel through the aspects of all his virtues, such as the ten powers and four fearlessnesses. One recollects the Dharma Jewel through the aspects of the other [qualities]—complete cessation, dispassion, the unconditioned, nirvāṇa, and so on. One recollects the Saṅgha Jewel through the aspects of virtues such as non-contention. 'Other' means that the Three Jewels are considered 'other' in relation to one another; that is, the aspects outside the Dharma and Saṅgha constitute the Buddha Jewel. Recollecting names such as 'Buddha' through differentiated meanings like these. The phrase 'the remainder refers to being the World-Honoured One, etc.' points out these remaining aspects of the Buddha Jewel, and so on.
