The passage, "karmas with both black and white fruition also have two kinds of feelings born of fruition," means: as when performing wholesome karma with the unwholesome as preparatory means, or as when performing unwholesome karma with the wholesome as preparatory means; collectively gathering both of these constitutes mixed karma, and later when obtaining the fruition, feelings are mixed with pain and pleasure. The Abhidharma takes the intention of this text. In that work it says: "Either the preparatory stage is black while the intention is white, or the preparatory stage is white while the intention is black"; collectively these are subsumed as black-and-white mixed karma. In one passage of the Yogācārabhūmi, it solely takes meritorious karma aroused when not yet free from desire as the substance of black-and-white karma, because unwholesome karma serves as its counter-adversary; thus, relying on that passage, wholesome karma of the desire realm in the domain of freedom from desire is not subsumed under the four karmas. The three subsequent paragraphs explain mixed karma.
