In the seventh [section], explaining examination: the words 'Herein, offenses that are solely defiled refer to the inherent offenses' explain the first clause. From 'One should solely instruct them not to commit offenses' down to 'causing them to quickly repent and remove [them]' explains the second, 'solely non-engaging'. Offenses among the ninety that are inherent offenses are to be quickly repented and removed so that they are not committed again. Furthermore, from 'the Buddha, the World-Honoured One' down to 'established the training rules on prohibitive offenses' explains the third, 'because of individuals who commit offenses, training rules are established'. From 'If there are any remaining' down to 'one should reveal the antidotes for them' explains the fourth, 'because of the arising or non-arising of their faults'. If in another place, at another time, other persons commit the same offense, this is called 'arising'; showing the previously Buddha-established prohibitive training rule and remedying/removing it is called 'non-arising'. From 'If there are those who do not offend' down to 'nor should one reveal the dharmas of antidote' explains the fifth, 'not solely occurring in actuality'.
