言知依處有二：一、自利行；二、利他行者，即於前五作業之智，前之三種於境無疑，名依自利行依處，後之二智知所度生根業等事，名依利他行依處。

Regarding 'knowing bases of reliance has two types: first, practices for one's own benefit; second, practices for the benefit of others': this refers to the previous five cognitions performing activities. The first three are without doubt regarding their objects, so they are called bases of reliance for practices benefiting oneself; the latter two cognitions know the faculties, karmas, and other matters of the sentient beings to be saved, so they are called bases of reliance for practices benefiting others.
