The fifty-eighth [topic] has three forms of clinging attachment, with the applications of mindfulness serving as their remedies. Clinging attachment to companions: clinging with attachment to the physical body's strength as a companion to life is remedied by contemplating the body as impure; also, passionately craving wives and concubines and viewing them as pure is called clinging attachment to companions, remedied by contemplating the body as impure. Second, clinging attachment to gain and sustenance is remedied by contemplating feelings as suffering. Third, clinging attachment to future existence is remedied by contemplating the mind as impermanent and contemplating dharmas as without self.
