Regarding 'or seeing Brahmā establish it at will': this is partial eternalism. Brahmā asserts: 'I am eternal; my offspring are impermanent.' Those who worship him establish according to his intent that this one is impermanent and that one is eternal; this is the first partial eternalism. Regarding 'or seeing the transformations of the four great elements' and so forth: hearing Brahmā establish that the great elements are impermanent and the mind is eternal, or that the great elements are eternal and the mind is impermanent, agreeing and assenting to that is called the second partial eternalism. Third, heavenly beings of play-forgetfulness (krīḍāpramoṣaka) die and are born here; heavenly beings of mental wrath (manaḥpradūṣaka) die and are born here; obtaining the supernormal knowledge of previous abodes, both recall: 'In those heavens there were not these two occurrences, hence they are eternal; we came here, hence we are impermanent.' These are called the third and fourth partial eternalisms.
