次破計現在，緣彼現前和合色境眼識起時等者，此中問意眼識現在緣色之時，往昔曾起耳等識為滅為轉。若言轉者，於曾所起百千境識，由今現在一色境界依一切時位彼諸識皆起，便違正理。

Next, in refuting [the view] positing the present, regarding the words "when the eye-consciousness arises taking as object those assembled form-objects appearing before it," and so forth: The intended question here is whether the ear-consciousness and other consciousnesses that had arisen in the past have ceased or continue to function when the eye-consciousness presently takes form as its object. If one says they continue to function, then with respect to the consciousnesses of hundreds of thousands of previously arisen objects, because of a single presently existing form-object, those consciousnesses would all arise according to all times and states, which contradicts correct reason.
