2.333

若有此三人者，非化生是誰耶？為有阿羅漢性，而於彼起增上慢等者，此意問言，為世間有真阿羅漢耶為無耶？若言有者，汝言世間無真阿羅漢不應理；若言無者，起顛倒執，自謂羅漢是即應名為真羅漢，更無餘故。

Regarding 'If these three persons exist, who are they if not spontaneously born? Is it that there is the nature of an arhat, yet towards it one gives rise to exaggerated pride...' and so forth: this means to ask, is there a true arhat in the world, or is there not? If you say there is, your assertion that there are no true arhats in the world is unreasonable; if you say there is not, then giving rise to an inverted attachment and calling oneself an arhat would mean that one should be called a true arhat, since there would be no other.
