自下出體,結是九結,謂愛、恚、慢、無明、見結、取結、疑、嫉慳,三見為見結,同是女聲,二取為取結,同是男聲,諸經中慳嫉過多故偏立結,謂能招貧賤鬪亂二趣等。

Next, the intrinsic natures are set forth. The bonds (saṃyojana) are the nine bonds, namely: affection, aversion, conceit, ignorance, the bond of views, the bond of grasping, doubt, envy, and avarice. The three views constitute the bond of views, which are all grammatically feminine; the two graspings constitute the bond of grasping, which are all grammatically masculine. In various sūtras, avarice and envy have extensive faults, so they are separately established as bonds, meaning they can bring about poverty, lowliness, conflict, the two destinies, and so forth.
