Among the four ties (kāyagantha), grasping firmly onto this as real is precisely grasping views as supreme, grasping phenomena as real. The eighty-ninth fascicle states: 'It should be known that the four ties are established solely based on the distinctions of non-Buddhists.' There are two kinds of what is tied: first, for the householder, craving and anger tie the mind-made body in concentration; second, for the renunciant, the two graspings of rules and views tie the mind-made body in concentration. Because these can obstruct the body of the intrinsic nature of the concentrated mind, they are called bodily ties; they do not obstruct the physical body. The first two are strictly in the desire realm, while the latter two extend throughout; or all belong to the desire realm, due to the predominance of unwholesomeness.
