記別者，謂廣分別略所標義者，汎於諸法前略標，舉後重廣說分別指示，皆名記別。又記命過弟子生處者，此記因果名為記別。

Vyākaraṇa [prophecy/elucidation] means "extensively analyzing the meaning briefly presented": broadly speaking, whenever an initial brief presentation is made regarding dharmas and later it is extensively analyzed, explained, and pointed out, all such are called vyākaraṇa. Furthermore, "prophesying the places of rebirth of deceased disciples": this recording of cause and effect is called vyākaraṇa.
