21.46

真諦三藏云：此之三名屬於地前。一者、黑白相雜，名波羅蜜多，以十解中煩惱間雜故；二者、一向白法，名近波羅蜜多，以十行中一向白法煩惱不現行故；三者、非黑白有報，名大波羅蜜多，以十迴向中，越前三位故；雖有此說，而違此文。

Tripiṭaka Master Paramārtha said: 'These three designations belong prior to the stages. First, "mixture of black and white" is called pāramitā, because defilements are interspersed within the ten understandings; second, "exclusively white dharmas" is called near-pāramitā, because within the ten practices there are exclusively white dharmas and defilements do not become active; third, "neither black nor white, having fruition" is called great pāramitā, because within the ten dedications of merit one transcends the preceding three positions.' Although there is this explanation, it contradicts the present text.
